Technology Integration

My philosophy on integrating technology into art curriculum:

Technology is an important tool in my teaching, allowing me to create engaging, accessible, and independent learning experiences for students both inside and outside the classroom. I use technology to create videos, presentations, and printable resources that support a variety of learning styles and give students the opportunity to review skills at their own pace. By creating visual and interactive resources, I can extend learning beyond class time and provide students with tools they can return to whenever they need additional guidance or inspiration.

As an art educator, I view technology as a way to enhance creative learning rather than replace traditional art making. My goal is to thoughtfully integrate digital tools alongside hands on experiences, helping students build confidence with both modern technologies and traditional artistic processes. Whether students are learning how to sew through an instructional video, documenting their creative process in an online portfolio, or presenting their work through a self-made slideshow, I strive to use technology intentionally to support creativity, accessibility, and meaningful learning.

How I Use Educational Media

Examples of digital resources I've made for students:

From Fiber To Fabric
Video

This video provides a clear, simple introduction and overview of the process of how fibers become textile products we use everyday. This video supports as a visual aid to see each step and reinforces comprehension of the general process before diving into a textile unit.

Sewing 101 Video

This video is a simple step-by-step guide on how to set up and learn simple sewn stitching techniques. It allows for students to pause, rewatch, and review at their own pace in order to comprehend such technical material. Alongside the printed worksheets it allows for independent learning.

Sewing Practice Worksheets

These printable worksheets are for students to practice new sewn stitching techniques. They include clear instructions, and with support from the Sewing 101 video, can be used independently by students.

Multimedia Teaching Project

I created an interactive online sewing lesson that combined an instructional video with other media for students to independently complete the project.
